ABOUT WILDLIFE N.I.

Wildlife N.I. is a voluntary organisation which provides the only Wildlife Helpline, Ambulance and Rescue service for Northern Irelands native species.  Operating out of the old Safari Park near Ballymoney, our ambulances cover the whole of Northern Ireland and across into Donegal. Currently we have four full-time vehicles on the road, each covering up to 200 miles a DAY.  We receive NO funding and struggle to cover all our running costs ourselves, currently about £150.000 a year. During the warmer months we rely heavily on a car boot sale which we run every Sunday at the old safari park, and an income from local councils for looking after their stray dogs. But during the colder wetter months our out goings far exceed our income and we have to rely on the generosity of the public, and fund raise any way we can.
With our number in all the telephone directories we are constantly snowed under with calls for help and find it hard to cover every call.

How can you help?
Apart from the obvious donations, we need able bodied people with an interest in wildlife to become active volunteers, people who at a moments notice are prepared to get wet, muddy, and scratched to go to the aid of an animal in need to save time and fuel for our vehicles. We need people who are able and prepared to run fund raising events on our behalf, cake stalls, coffee mornings and raffles etc. See Fundraising Ideas

We also need people with skills that could help us rebuild the old safari park, manual labourers, such and brickies, joiners landscapers and general labourers.

We are also looking for small plots of otherwise unusable land to use as local holding centers all across the country, just an acre here and there where we can erect hospital pens for a few animals so that local volunteers can look after animals that just need a few days rest or care for injured animals until an ambulance can get to them.
